Searching for a SMB Server Solution? Check out the ML10 Gen9 Server + Windows Server 2012 R2!
Searching for a small to midsized business (SMB) starter server solution with performance and reliability to protect valuable data? If so, you've come to the right place!
Take a moment and watch our new Coffee Coaching session by Travis Newton, HPE America's ML category manager, to learn about two ideal pairings for SMBs: the HPE ProLiant ML10 Gen9 Server + Microsoft® Windows Server® 2012 R2 Foundation or Essentials edition (then read on to learn a bit more about these great SMB solutions).
The HPE ProLiant ML10 Gen9 server is quiet, compact, easy to use, and easy to maintain for small businesses and remote branch offices. It offers efficiency and expandability to fit the needs of growing, budget-conscious, businesses and has the lowest acquisition cost of any HPE 1P tower server (making it a great first server choice).
What are some key features of the HPE ProLiant ML10 Gen9 server?
- First, the processor: The ML10 Gen9 server comes standard with the Intel® Xeon® E3 1225 v5 processor in a 4U chassis but also supports Intel® Pentium® and Intel® Core™ i3 processors (depending on the model). These processors are designed to deliver the best combination of performance, built-in capabilities, and cost-effectiveness.
- Second, memory: This server comes with 4 DIMM slots for DDR4 UDIMM memory and has a maximum capacity of 64GB (4 x 16GB UDIMM @2133MHz).
- Third, storage: The ML10 Gen9 supports large form factor (LFF) drives with a maximum storage capacity of 24TB. In addition, it comes with Intel Chipset support for RST SATA RAID disk drives to improve workload performance.
- Last, but certainly not least, this server has embedded Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT) with remote console web browser GUI and remote power on and off.
Don’t forget, the server is just half of the solution! Pairing the HPE ProLiant ML10 Gen9 server with Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 ensures SMBs get just what they need with a complete server solution. Windows Server 2012 R2 Foundation edition, Microsoft's single socket OS -only available from OEMs like HPE- gives SMBs a simple starter solution at the affordable entry level investment price they need. Foundation edition supports up to 15 users and does not require Client Access Licenses (CALs). HPE offers Foundation edition as either a drop-in-the-box option or HPE Reseller Option Kit (HPE ROK).
For SMBs that require more user access, Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials, with a user limit of 25, may be a better fit. Designed for easy deployment, Essentials can be managed by individuals within organizations with limited in-house IT services and allows small businesses to run their applications on-premises or take advantage of the growing number of cloud-based applications and services.
