ServeIT: Defend your SMB from Cybercrime with HP Flex-Bundles for Data Security

SMB Solutions and Route to Market

Cybercrime continues to increase. According to Verizon’s 2014 Data Breach Investigations Report, about 60 percent of cyber criminals are hackers seeking financial gain, while about 25 percent are intellectual property spies.[1] These are sophisticated criminals with a variety of strategies in their toolkits, from web app attacks and cyber-espionage, to point-of-sale intrusions and payment card skimmers.

“After analyzing 10 years of data, we realize most organizations cannot keep up with cybercrime – and the bad guys are winning,” said Wade Baker, principal author of the Data Breach Investigations Report series. “Organizations need to realize no one is immune from a data breach. Compounding this issue is the fact that it is taking longer to identify compromises within an organization – often weeks or months, while penetrating an organization can take minutes or hours.”[2]

This threat is not exclusive to enterprises and corporations. Small to midsize businesses (SMBs) like yours are major targets of cybercrime due to their reduced budgets and limited IT staff. They typically do not have the resources to put a robust data security system in place. Unfortunately, 20 percent of cyber-attacks are on small firms with less than 250 employees, and 60 percent of SMBs close within six months of an attack because of high costs associated with compromised data and regulatory compliance. [3]

How can you and other SMB owners proactively face the threat of cyber-attacks? SMBs require solutions that secure sensitive data across the organization and support data protection compliance regulations – as many are subject to data privacy regulations like the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) and U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). In addition, these solutions must have encryption capabilities and be scalable to secure the business as it grows.

HP has developed exactly this type of solution especially for SMBs. HP Flex-Bundles for Data Security with HP Secure Encryption are budget-friendly, controller-based security solutions for HP ProLiant servers that ensure regulatory compliance and protect data at rest on any hard disk drive, solid-state drive, and cache memory.

HP Flex-Bundles for Data Security with HP Secure Encryption are complete, controller-based security solutions that protect data at rest on any hard-disk drive, solid-state drive, or cache memory. Offered with predefined configurations to support 8 TB Tower Secure Encryption, 16 TB Tower Secure Encryption, or 7–36 TB Expandable Rack requirements. Customers can purchase what they need today, but allow room for future growth.  These scalable security-based solutions are simple to deploy and manage, making them a cost-effective choice for data security and overall business protection.

The secure encryption feature is exclusive to HP Smart Array Px3x controllers, which function in local mode for the pre-defined reference configurations listed above (SMBs with between 1 and 99 servers). In local mode, a single encryption key is used per physical controller. HP Smart Storage Administrator manages each controller independently.

For SMBs with more than 99 servers, there is an additional scalable upgrade option: HP Enterprise Secure Key Manager (ESKM). This solution is designed for businesses that need centralized management of secure encryption across multiple sites, or require high availability with automatic secure encryption key management.

HP Flex-Bundles for Data Security with HP Secure Encryption offers an affordable solution that meets your current needs and scales with your IT requirements as your business grows. Its fast and simple deployment makes integration easy. The peace of mind that comes with the unique and comprehensive secure encrypted data protection and compliance regulation across your SMB is priceless.
