Smart Storage: How to get Disk and Storage Information from ACU-CLI

HP ProLiant servers with embedded and optional Smart Array Controller offerings have a unique application – the Array Configuration Utility (ACU) – that takes the guesswork out of viewing your current storage hardware setup and offers the ultimate in ease-of-use when creating and maintaining your HP storage.

The Array Configuration Utility (ACU) was developed in 1997 to simplify setup and configuration of HP's Smart Array controllers.

The ACU family provides tools in three interface formats:

HP Array Configuration Utility - a graphically rich, web-based application

HP Array Configuration Utility (CLI) - a command-line application

HP Array Configuration Utility (Scripting) - a capture/deploy scripting application is delivered with the HP Array Configuration Utility (CLI) packages

All formats provide support for standard configuration tasks. ACU also provides support for advanced configuration tasks. Some of the advanced tasks are available in only one format.

Starting with ACU version 9.0 and ProLiant Gen8 servers and server blades, ACU is accessible both offline and online:

• Accessing ACU in the offline environment

Using one of multiple methods, you can run ACU before launching the host operating system. In offline mode, users can configure or maintain detected and supported ProLiant devices, such as optional Smart Array controllers, integrated Smart Array controllers, and RAID Array controllers. Some ACU CLI features are only available in the offline environment, such as setting the boot controller and boot volume.

• Accessing ACU in the online environment

This method requires an administrator to download the ACU executables and install them. You can run ACU online after launching the host operating system.

More detailed information for using ACU-CLI can be found here:
