The HPE SMB Server Portfolio Keeps Getting Better!
New solutions and technologies were recently introduced to the HPE ProLiant Gen9 server portfolio that will help provide small and midsize businesses (SMBs) with a range of compute innovations.
โAs the industry's leading server vendor, HPE is committed to bringing new infrastructure innovations to the market that enable organizations to derive more value from their data.โ โ Peter Schrady, Senior Vice President and General Manager HPE ProLiant Servers and Enterprise & SMB Segments.
So, what are these infrastructure innovations and how do they benefit SMB customers? Lucy Ellis, SMB Category Manager for the Americas at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, explains what these new technologies are:
- New Intelยฎ Xeonยฎ platform: at the heart of every server is the processor facilitating all of the data processing activities. As applications and workloads become more demanding, the server needs increased performance. That is precisely what the Intelยฎ Xeonยฎ E5-2600 v4 processor brings with up to 25% performance gains for HPE ProLiant Gen9 servers. These processors include enhancements to virtualization software, such as Microsoft Hyper-V, added security, and improved orchestration capabilities to help customers better manage shared platform resources. With these new processors, HPE has achieved several #1 server benchmark performance positions in multiple categories.
- Fast data transfer with high-speed DRAM in multiple configurations: System memory, much like human memory, stores data to execute a sequence of instructions. Strong memory helps decipher and take action faster. With HPE DDR4 2400 MHz memory, HPE ProLiant Gen9 servers can accelerate application performance.
- HPE Persistent memory: Another type of memory introduced by HPE was HPE Persistent Memory. This technology is designed to accelerate database and analytic workloads and is ideal for any applications that are constrained by traditional storage bottlenecks.
- State of the art solid state drives (SSDs): Drives work similarly to human long-term memory. Read and write speed is very important, and so is endurance. HPE NVME PCIe SSDs are compact and economical and offer up to 2TB of storage in a flexible package. These SSDs in the HPE Express Bay not only increase performance for read and write, but also use less power and enable easy front accessibility.
- Smart authentication: No one wants intruders coming in to steal from their homes or their servers. To protect your home you may put deadbolt locks on the doors or use a home security system. For your ProLiant Gen9 servers, you can use TCG Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 to help prevent unauthorized access. TPM 2.0 enables Microsoftยฎ Windowsยฎ Bitlockerโข drive encryption, creating a tamper-resistant environment.
How do these improvements help channel partners?
Small and midsize businesses rely on partners as their trusted source of information technology as they move towards technology and products that can help them continue to grow. HPE and Microsoft are constantly delivering enhancements to their portfolios that will allow customers to increase agility, protect critical information, and deliver new applications and services faster than ever before.
