The value of OEM with Microsoft and Hewlett Packard Enterprise
HPE and Microsoftโs 30+ year strategic partnership offers our reseller partners and customers great OEM benefits. With Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Microsoft working together to provide seamless solution integration, businesses get simple, cost effective IT with hardware and software that is collaboratively built and easy to license with complete server solutions for businesses of all shapes and sizes. Combine the ease of management, virtualization, and scalability of Microsoft Windows Server with the intelligence of HPE ProLiant servers for a winning solution.
Watch Bob Moore, Director of Server Software & Product Security at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, explain the value of OEM with Microsoft and Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
When customers purchase new HPE ProLiant Gen10 Servers, there are several benefits they can receive by also purchasing Microsoft Windows Server 2016 licensing from HPE, through HPE OEM Windows Server licensing. Letโs take a look at these benefits:
Affordability
HPE OEM Windows Server licenses are the simplest, most cost-effective license for many small and midsize businesses. With several different Windows Server 2016 editions available from HPE, customers can choose the edition that best fits their businesses needs and budget.
Simplified Purchasing
Purchasing Microsoft Windows Server licensing from HPE gives customers a โone-stop-shopโ for their hardware, software, and other licensing needs, such as Client Access Licenses (CALs). Customers can plan and purchase their entire server infrastructure from the bottom up. First, pick the HPE Gen10 Server that best fits their business needs, then match it with the best Windows Server 2016 edition, and add on the CALs that will be needed for their users or devices.
Pre-Tested Licenses
When customers purchase HPE OEM Windows Server licenses, they can rest assured knowing the server Operating System (OS) and drivers are pre-tested and optimized for HPE Servers.
Certified Licenses
HPE has certified Microsoft Windows Server 2016 for most HPE ProLiant Gen10 and Gen9 servers, and several other HPE server lines. This list is continually being updated. The latest updates can be found on the HPE Servers Support Matrix.
Simplified Support
Purchasing is not the only thing that is simplified with HPE OEM Windows Server licensing. Customers who purchase Microsoft Windows Server licenses from HPE or HPE Resellers can call HPE for both server support and OS support. Technical support is available from the HPE website or by telephone for 90 days from the date of purchase.
Downgrade/Down-edition Rights
Many Microsoft software products include the right to use an earlier version, or lower edition, of the software in place of the version/edition that was licensed. Microsoft Windows Server 2016 licenses from HPE offer the same downgrade and virtual machine portability rights as with volume licensing. For information on the downgrade rights for a specific product, refer to the end-user licensing terms of the Microsoft software license.
Reassignment Rights
Select HPE OEM Windows Server license SKUs1 offer Reassignment Rights, giving customers the option for more licensing flexibility.
Software Assurance
An HPE Reseller Partner or customer can attach Software Assurance (SA) to an HPE OEM Windows Server license within 90 days of purchase. Please note, SA is only available for the latest version of Microsoft products.
Microsoft and HPE bring together the worldโs leading server hardware and software innovations, applications, resources, and support to help businesses of all sizes be more productive, achieve more with less, and keep everything running smoothly. Activate the power of partnership for your servers and operating systems with pre-tested, optimized drivers, and a one-stop-shop for hardware, software, and CALs, all backed by easily accessible services and support for every component.
