Time for a tech refresh? Match Windows Server 2019 with new HPE ProLiant servers
When customers upgrade to new HPE ProLiant servers, they lay the foundation to simplify and automate management tasks and establish a solid foundation for an open, Hybrid Cloud platform. These benefits are enabled by composability using the unmatched automation, security, optimization, and built-in intelligence of HPE ProLiant Gen10 and Gen10 Plus servers—all available as a service. Here’s how to pick the right server and Windows Server 2019 licenses to go with it.

Your Windows Server upgrade path
When pairing an upgraded server with an upgraded OS, customers need to make a few decisions. The first is which Windows Server edition to choose. These include:
- Datacenter: Best for companies of all sizes that have demanding IT workloads and require advanced storage, virtualization, and application deployment.
- Standard: Suitable for on-premises, physical environments or lightly virtualized environments that require a flexible path toward virtualization.
- Essentials: Ideal for smaller businesses with up to 25 users or 50 devices and also companies that may only have basic IT needs and/or limited IT resources. Essentials is a good option for customers currently using the Windows Server Foundation edition, which is not available for Windows Server 2019.
Next, it’s important for customers to understand the difference between different versions of the OS. This is especially important for customers who may be considering putting off a tech refresh. Showing them the benefits of an upgraded OS with an upgraded server can help them make the right choice.
