Transforming energy delivery with SAP HANA
By Manoj Suvarna
You know it and I know it. Collecting a more-than-sufficient quantity of data is not a problem for todayโs enterprises. We have also seen the quality of data that organizations can collect increase significantly over the past few years. So whereโs the challenge?
Again, I think we are all aware that finding and using the most relevant data is still a major issue. That was definitely the case with CenterPoint Energy. Thatโs also where SAP HANA and Hewlett Packard Enterprise continued to deliver solutions that allowed the Fortune 500 energy and utility company to access the best data and act on it to drive an essential transformation initiative.
CenterPoint Energyโs success will be on display during a great session at SAP SAPPHIRE. Titled โCenterPoint Energy; transforming energy delivery with Hewlett Packard Enterprise and SAP HANAยฎ,โ this session will outline how CenterPoint Energy accelerated its transformation to a digital enterprise using real-time analytics and a more reliable infrastructure. It will also provide details on how CenterPoint transformed its customer experience and boosted operational efficiencies with HPE infrastructure and SAP HANA software.
Ensuring a smooth transformation journey
CenterPoint Energy has over 5000 square miles of electric transmission and distribution service area across 28 states and over 5 million metered customers. Pursuing innovation, business transformation and customer evolution are the key pillars of growth for CenterPoint Energy.
Given this scale, CenterPoint Energy has been grappling with data consolidation, optimization and exploitation for years, as the company seeks to maximize their speed to resolution with minimal resources consumed and a reduced time to decision making. The SAP - Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) solution they adopted is designed to help them predict the nature of a customer call in seconds by processing 14+ million data points, thus significantly improving their time to issue resolution, while also improving customer satisfaction and loyalty.
The solution also allows CenterPoint to set their own parameters for tiering aged data. With almost 2.3M smart meters and data growing at the rate of 2TB/month, this is quite a feat for storing, analyzing and driving business insights from this data. Additional use cases involve analyzing millions of PDF documents on customer billing and contracts stored in Hadoop to assist their customer service reps respond to queries in real-time.
Attend and discover the value HPE and SAP delivered
If you will be attending SAPPHIRE, find out more about the outstanding results the HPE โ SAP solution was able to deliver by attending session. Youโll hear from the leaders who crafted and implemented the solution, including. Dr. Steve Pratt (CTO) from CenterPoint Energy who will also present his vision to โtransform energy deliveryโ in the 21st century and beyond. I will be your host for the session.
Whether your interests are in business transformation, analytics, SAP HANA implementation, the energy industry, or all of the above, this is a session will be well worth attending. It will be presented twice:
โข May 18 at 2.00 p.m. in Theater 4
โข May 19 at 12.30 p.m. at the HPE Booth
