Virtualization made simple—and affordable—with Windows Server 2019 and HPE ProLiant Gen10 servers
Virtualization is powerful technology that helps a business run more applications on a single server—like accounting, productivity, and payroll apps—to reduce costs and better support an increasing number of workloads. However, not all businesses have the in-house IT support necessary to build virtualization solutions from scratch.
That’s why HPE has introduced HPE Small Business Solutions for Virtualization. These are ready-to-go solution packages that include the hardware, software, services, and options a business needs to succeed with virtualization. They’re also designed to be low cost and make IT more accessible and easier to consume.
For example, they’re built on HPE ProLiant servers that are optimized and validated to run Windows Server® 2019 with Microsoft® Hyper-V®. And they’re already tested, optimized, and validated for on-premises and Hybrid Cloud use cases. Adding Microsoft Azure® Virtual Machines and Azure Backup to the on-premises solution creates a flexible Hybrid Cloud foundation that grants the ability to extend virtual machines (VMs) into the cloud for greater capacity and to protect VMs with a robust, cloud-based business continuity plan.
These powerful virtualization packages help maximize performance and efficiently scale computing capacity while reducing costs for hardware, software, and maintenance.
Let’s look at the components in more detail:
- HPE ProLiant Gen10 servers: Automated intelligence reduces the time and skills required for server deployment and management. This includes HPE Rapid Setup, which is a simple, guided installation utility. Plus, built-in security features make HPE ProLiant Gen10 the world’s most secure industry-standard servers.1
- Windows Server 2019 with Microsoft Hyper-V: Windows Server 2019 is the operating system that bridges on-premises and cloud, and it offers many new and improved features to help manage virtualization. The Microsoft Hyper-V role is included, making it easy and affordable to take advantage of virtualization.
- Shared storage option: For businesses that need highly available virtualization, there is the HPE SMB Shared Storage Solution for Virtualization option. It consists of an HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 Server combined with an HPE MSA 2050 Dual Controller Fibre Channel SAN external storage array. Multiple servers can share the MSA storage to add failover capability or reduce cost of ownership by implementing a single shared storage versus multiple servers having their own internal storage.
With a choice of optimized configurations built on HPE ProLiant servers that are validated with Windows Server 2019 and Hyper-V, it’s easy to adopt virtualization.
