Windows Server 2019: Coming Soon from HPE!
We are very excited to announce that Windows Server 2019 OEM licenses will be available from Hewlett Packard Enterprise starting April 2, 2019 to pair with new HPE ProLiant Gen10 Servers, storage, and networking offerings. HPE OEM Windows Server licenses offer many advantages to customers and resellers over other licensing types as they are affordable, customized, optimized for HPE ProLiant servers, and include 90 days of free HPE setup support.
Windows Server 2019 is the operating system that bridges on-premises and cloud. When you pair Windows Server 2019 with HPE ProLiant Gen10 Servers your customers will benefit from next-level computing speeds and increased storage capacity helping their businesses do more, fasterโfor better insights and performance across the organization.
Enhanced security features help provide comprehensive protection to data and apps with the ability to detect and automatically respond to threats and help customers stay compliant with regulations, including General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) HIPAA.
With centralized, simplified management tools, Windows Server 2019 connects on-premises environments built on HPE ProLiant Gen10 Servers with cloud computing through Azure services, giving SMBs the flexibility to enhance their on-premises server deployment with value-added cloud services when it fits their needs and ensure business continuity with cloud backup and disaster recovery services.
Have questions about HPE OEM Windows Server 2019 Licensing? Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions:
1) What Windows Server OEM license products will HPE offer?
HPE will offer OEM licenses for the following Windows Server 2019 products:
- Windows Server 2019 Essentials, Windows Server 2019 Standard, and Windows Server 2019 Datacenter โBase
Licensesโ
- Windows Server 2019 Standard โAdditional Licensesโ
- Windows Server 2019 Datacenter โAdditional Licensesโ
Windows Server 2019 Client Access Licenses (CALs)
- Windows Server 2019 User and Device CALs
- Windows Server 2019 Remote Desktop Service (RDS) CALs
2) How many Client Access Licenses (CALs) are included with each HPE OEM Windows Server license?
None. As of Windows Server 2012 and onwards, OEM licensing has been aligned to Microsoft Volume Licensing, in that CALs are purchased separately. This assures that each customer can purchase only and exactly the number of CALs they need. HPE offers CALs in 1, 5, 10, and 50 packs, for users or devices.
3) What will come with the HPE OEM Windows Server 2019 Licenses?
Included with Windows Server 2019 Essentials, Standard, or Datacenter โBase Licensesโ:
- 1 COA (that should be adhered to the server) with 1 25-digit (5x5) product key to โactivateโ the OS installation
- 1 HPE-branded x64 DVD (black and white)
Included with Windows Server 2019 Standard or Datacenter โAdditional Licensesโ:
- 1 Self Adhesive Certificate Of Authenticity (SACOA) that is adhered to a card with 1 keyless tracking ID
4) How will HPE deliver these OEM licenses?
As with past OEM Windows Server generations, Hewlett Packard Enterprise will offer factory-preinstalled configurations from our online stores, via our channel partners, and through our direct sales team. Non-preinstalled factory OEM licenses (also referred to as โdrop-in-boxโ licenses) will be available with new HPE servers for customers choosing do-it-yourself installations. These licenses will be offered online and via our channel partners. ROK licenses will be available only to resellers from HPE authorized distributors. Resellers can then offer Windows Server Reseller Option Kit (ROK) licenses in combination with HPE server systems to end customers including the value of an HPE OEM license along with the additional services and/or products that most HPE channel partners offer to our customers.
