TZ89 compatible with AlphaServer 800?

Hi,
Is the TZ89 (35/70 GB DLT external tape drive) compatible with Alpha 800? When I connect such a tape drive to the Alpha 800, it doesn't show up when I do a >>>show devices in SRM.

Thanks,
Tiziana

Tiziana,

Yes the AlphaServer 800 supports a TZ89.

See the attached text file that contains SRM show output from one of our AS800s.

Re: TZ89 compatible with AlphaServer 800?

Hi Tizania,
check the scsi interface type of both drive and controler,
there is "normal" (single ended) scsi, differential scsi and LVD scsi.
offcourse you cannot use them mixed.
is it just TZ89 or TZ89??

It's advisable to put the TZ89 on a dedicated bus, not a bus where other drives are present.

The problem was with a faulty terminator.  Changed that and it worked fine.
