Where to buy
We to upgrade it to a DS20E.
First of my questions... Can anyone tell me who to call to order OpenVMS upgrade licenses?
I spent 6 hours on the phone today, getting transfered to, what seemed like, every department and every country that HP does business with, trying to find someone who can tell me what upgrade licenses I need to buy and how to order them. Nobody at any of HP's call centers seems to know what OpenVMS is... (grin)
I also emailed the SoftwareLicensing@hp.com email address 5 days ago and have not received a response. So nothing down that road either...
We ordered some Pathworks Client Licenses about three years ago, but that phone number rings to a central HP call center and they do not know what OpenVMS is... Her question was,
"What platform does OpenVMS run on? Windows or Macintosh?" (grin) I had to laugh at this point!
Second of my questions is what licenses do I need to upgrade to do the following:
OpenVMS 6.2 on an AlphaServer 1000 going to OpenVMS 7.3 on a DS20E.
Pathworks 5.0F going to (I assume 6.1) or will 5.0F run on OpenVMS 7.3.
What do I need, as far as OpenVMS licensing is concerned, to support a second CPU board in the DS20E?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Where to buy
your're doing two upgrades hardware AND OS-version, this will not be caught under a normal upgrade.
maybe this link will help?

Re: Where to buy
And the original owner is not reachable/unknown, so the license transfer procedure for OpenVMS cannot be completed because there is no way to obtain the previous license Pak info...
I have read through all of the information on transferring licenses, but that doesn't apply since I have no way to contact the original owner or obtain the licens paks. We do qualify for transferring our license from one machine to the other within the same company though according to the Software Licensing Policies web page. So I end up with one fully licensed 1000 that I want to retire and a DS20E that I do not know how to upgrade the license and move the licenses to.
The software licensing web page says for customers in the US (Americas) to email "SoftwareLicensing@hp.com" on the Contacts page. There is no phone number or other contact information given and nobody replies from that email address.
Thus the challange...

Re: Where to buy
They specialise in DEC-type equipment, and will probably help you with the licenses as well.

Ah, correct Pieter. I worded that poorly. We have an application that runs on OpenVMS that we use on the Alpha.
The only functionality that we use the "Pathworks" software for on the Alpha is to share files and printers off of the Alpha so that we can access them from our Windows workstations. We don't use any of the other Pathworks features.
