HPE and Commvault: Simplified backup and recovery for your business

HPE and Commvault are working together to deliver simplified backup and recovery solutions for your business because your data needs our combined protection more than ever.

HPE and Commvault_data protection_blog.jpgWe are in an era of digital transformation, where the accessibility of emerging digital technologies enable you to reimagine your business in new waysโ€”and create new experiences, new products and services and new efficiencies. Today, data is your digital transformation engine and is your most valuable currency. Your organization depends on data to be instantly available and secure, wherever and whenever you need it.

In an always-on connected world, the financial and business impact of unplanned downtime and data loss can prove catastrophic, including lost revenue customer confidence, and legal issues, as well as negative effects on your reputation.

As the value and business criticality of data increases, the challenges of backup, recovery, and managing data are tougher than ever. Exploding data growth, copy data sprawl, demanding recovery SLA requirements, and an evolving threat and compliance landscape are putting pressure on costs and intensifying risk. Whatโ€™s more, as you transform to a hybrid IT operating model, protecting and managing apps and data across your data center, private cloud, and public cloud infrastructure can prove increasingly complex.

To help address these challenges, we at HPE have teamed up with Commvault, the superhero of backup recovery and data management. Commvault is part of the HPE Complete program, which enables you to purchase Commvault software along with HPE hardware with a single invoice through either HPE representatives or HPE channel partners anywhere in the world.

Much more than just a resale partnership

As part of the HPE Complete program, HPE customers will not only have access to the comprehensive Commvault Completeโ„ข Backup & Recovery software solution, but also to Commvault HyperScaleโ„ข technology that provides a scale-out solution for todayโ€™s modern cloud-like architectures. This combination provides a truly "complete" enterprise backup and recovery solution available from HPE partners. Similarly, HPE partners have the benefit of being able to sell HPE storage and server platforms along with Commvault software as a complete solution on a single invoiceโ€”all with the confidence of knowing the hardware and software work together.HPE Commvault 1.jpgCommvault software combines complete data protection lifecycle management features with primary and secondary tiers of HPE storage. The combination of Commvault IntelliSnapยฎ Technology with the native HPE 3PAR StoreServ and HPE Nimble Storage snapshot engine provides consistent point-in-time recovery copies for enterprise applications while incorporating hardware snapshots into the complete data protection process without requiring complex scripting. IntelliSnapยฎ Technology and the HPE storage snapshot engine also allow you to meet demanding business-critical application SLAs with scalable protection for recovery point and time objectives of minutes. This integration produces accelerated application-level recovery with granular protection and retention options.HPE and Commvault complement each other_revise.jpgDriving data center transformation, HPE ProLiant and HPE Apollo systems represent a well-suited platform for Commvault HyperScaleโ„ข Software to expand and transform capabilities in the evolving software-defined world. By leveraging Commvault HyperScaleโ„ข Software and a Validated Reference Design with HPE ProLiant and Apollo systems, you can maximize the return on investment by reducing the complexity, cost, and risk over traditional scale-up solutions.

Wait! Thereโ€™s more to this partnership

We just announced full integration between HPE StoreOnce systems and Commvault Completeโ„ข Backup & Recovery Software through HPE StoreOnce Catalyst. This joint solution allows Commvault to manage the full lifecycle of data management operations for HPE StoreOnce systems. (Catch complete announcement details here in this blog by Calvin Zito: Simplifying hybrid cloud data protection with new solutions)

Seamless integration between HPE StoreOnce systems using Catalyst Copy meets evolving backup, recovery, and compliance challenges, while tightening resource requirements and responding to the ever-expanding data growth that our customers are facing. The new solution from Commvault and HPE includes support for low bandwidth mode (source-side) deduplication that reduces redundant data, minimizes automated movement of data to lower cost storage as data ages based on user-defined policies, and includes support for synthetic, full backups using Catalyst Clone.

With this integration, users can move backup data natively, reliably, and cost-effectively to the public, private, or hybrid cloud. This capability is delivered by HPE Cloud Bank Storage,* resulting in long-term retention and reliable disaster recovery that is simple and efficient with up to 20x lower cloud storage. You can also get faster and more efficient backup and disaster recovery with support for StoreOnce source-side deduplication and low bandwidth replication, enabling 95% less storage and network traffic. No other competitors offer this level of integration.HPE Commvault 3.jpg
