HPE highest for execution, furthest for completeness of vision in new Gartner MQ

Gartner just published the 2017 Magic Quadrant for General-Purpose Disk Arrays. Bill Philbin, SVP, Storage and Big Data, Data Center Infrastructure Group, weighs in.

HPE, and formerly HP, has been a leader since the first version of this MQ in 2013*. We've also been named a leader in last three years (2015, 2016, and 2017) of the MQ for Solid-State Arrays**. But what we believe makes this MQ so special for HPE is our placement: positioned both furthest for the “Completeness of Vision” and highest for “Ability to Execute”. The HPE Storage portfolio included in this new MQ covers a range of products. We believe our portfolio is formidable as it offers a solution for every type and size of customer, and spans all conceivable workloads.HPE Storage_Gartner MQ .png

Our winning portfolio

With the industry’s broadest and deepest all-flash, hybrid flash and hyper converged portfolio, we believe no other company is better positioned to serve the needs of customers. Our core portfolio includes:

  • HPE 3PAR—suitable for buyers seeking flexibility, the broadest set of storage features and 6-nines guaranteed availability
  • HPE Nimble Storage—suitable for buyers who place a focus on simplicity, a new style of support and 6-nines guaranteed availability
  • HPE Simplivity—for vm-centric customers wanting a new approach to converge compute, network and storage into one appliance

Why HPE for storage?

I am often asked: What sets HPE apart from other vendors in storage? This is a fair question. We believe it is evidenced in the MQ, that there are a lot of good storage products, and many will satisfy the basic needs of the majority of customers. However, thereHPE Storage MQ Disk Arrays_blog.jpg are three areas where HPE stands on its own:

Every second, HPE InfoSight analyzes millions of sensors to predict and prevent problems, even those outside of storage. In HPE Nimble Storage arrays, 86 percent of issues are predicted and resolved before a customer is even aware of a problem. At the same time, HPE InfoSight completely transforms the management and support experience for a customer and make the arrays smarter. Today HPE InfoSight is available for HPE Nimble Storage arrays and will be extended across the portfolio starting, with 3PAR.

Cloud ready

HPE Nimble Storage and 3PAR arrays future-proof your environment for the cloud. Easily migrate data between on-premises and the public cloud with HPE Cloud Volumes or perform cost-effective backup and archival to the cloud with StoreOnce Cloud Bank Storage. You can also leverage the ability to pay for storage as you go with Flash Now.

Timeless storage

Technology purchases and refresh doesn’t have to be painful. HPE ensures that the investment you make today, will carry through into the future. HPE Nimble Storage and 3PAR arrays have all-inclusive licensing, offer flexible refresh options and provide 6-nines guaranteed availability—while also future-proofing for new technologies like Storage Class Memory and NVMe.

We’re not resting on our laurels

For us, being a leader in the MQ is not enough. We are passionate about our storage solutions and couldn’t be more excited by what we have in store for the coming year. Stay tuned!
