Magic Quadrant for SSAs from Gartner recognizes HPE’s ability to execute and completeness of vision

Gartner just released the 2018 edition of the Magic Quadrant (MQ) for Solid-State Arrays (SSAs). According to Gartner, this Magic Quadrant will help IT leaders better understand SSA vendor positioning in the market.

Once again—for the fourth year in a row—HPE is named a leader. Read the Gartner report to find out how the analysts evaluate SSA vendor positions for 2018.

We are certainly thrilled with our position in the MQ and with the products that make up our all-flash portfolio: HPE 3PAR All-Flash and HPE Nimble Storage All-Flash Arrays.

But what can we glean about the evolution of the SSA market from this analysis? Over the past five years there have been many changes in the market, but we now believe that the market for SSAs is stable and (dare we say it?) maturing, which might lead you to think. . . what comes next?

Surely SSA technology will continue to evolve. Solutions based on Storage Class Memory are emerging.  Solid-state media is getting less expensive. All good news. But we believe that you need to look “beyond the box” and think about how storage can help you extract the most value from all the data being housed on your devices. If all your storage does is house your data, it’s not good enough. You need storage that is capable of helping you transform your business with solutions that are intelligent. Intelligent storage.

In my recent blog, I talked a lot about what intelligent storage is and how it learns, adapts and self-adjusts to help bring your business strategies to life. To recap, our position is this: when data is accessed, refined, and used at the right place and at the right time, it can transform your business. You need to empower your data, care for it, protect it and make it accessible. Your storage needs to be intelligent, removing technical, people and business complexities so you can unlock data’s potential.

As we innovate to help you increase revenue, decrease cost and mitigate risk, we are designing intelligent storage that:

  • Moves data where it needs to be with seamless cloud mobility
  • Anticipates challenges, to guarantee 99.9999% availability
  • Learns and adapts to predict and prevent 86% of problems across your infrastructure
  • Optimizes to extract actionable insights, for all types of data and regardless of locality
  • Self-adjusts in real time, lowering OPEX by 79%
  • Secures and protect data to eliminate potential threats
  • Provides an experience that gets even better over time

What does intelligent storage mean to you?

We want to hear from you and learn how you define intelligent storage. Earlier this summer, we spoke with customers at HPE Discover to gain insight into how they see intelligent storage evolving to transform their business. Here’s a summary of some of what we heard:

  • Intelligent storage allows SAN admins to manage data, not devices. You can do more with the people you have, and those people will add value back to your business when they don’t have to focus on maintenance.
  • With Intelligent storage, you can easily compare across all environments, from lab data centers, to main data centers, to edge data centers. You can clearly and quickly see a problem and how to resolve it.
  • Adding in layers of machine learning and predictive capabilities makes capacity planning more efficient. Automation and intelligent storage allow you to find bottlenecks before they impact performance.

What do you want from an intelligent storage platform?

Please leave a comment here and tell us how you envision the evolution of intelligent storage. How do you use storage to transform your business? How can we deliver storage solutions that empower you?
