Morpheus Data podcast and HPE container news
I have a couple of non-storage topics I wanted to hit in my blog today. I recently did a podcast with my former HPE manager Brad Parks. Brad decided to give the start-up life a try after several years at HPE. I either worked with or for him during his time at HP/HPE. He's spent the last two years at Morpheus Data and I have a podcast with him getting an overview of Morpheus Data and learning how HPE and Morpheus partner for DevOps and Cloud orchestration.
Here's the podcast with Brad Parks, VP of Marketing at Morpheus Data that will open in a new window and play it now or you can download an MP3 of the podcast by clicking here.
To subscribe to the podcast, open this link and click on the "View in iTunes" button under my picture. If you don't use iTunes, you can find my podcast on TalkShoe.com, Google Play Music. and just added to Spotify Podcast, and Stitcher! On Google, you'll get "invited" to try Google Play Music for 30 days - just click "no thanks" to get past this and get to the podcast.
Containing containers
Earlier this week, HPE made an announcement focused on containers. There really wasn't a single blog post that pointed to all of the really good content that we had around the announcement so I'm going to point to videos and blog posts I've seen related to the news.
- Phil Davis, President of Hybrid IT wrote a blog post that talks about HPE launching the new HPE Container Platform, the industryโs first enterprise-grade Kubernetes-based platform designed for containerization of both cloud-native and non-cloud-native applications. Phil discuss the technolgoy behind this as BlueData and MapR.
- Anant Chintamaneni is Vice President and General Manager of BlueData Products at HPE and he wrote a blog post that goes deeper into the HPE Container Platform.
- There's a press release, Hewlett Packard Enterprise introduces Kubernetes-based platform for bare-metal and edge to cloud deployments you can check out.
- Here's a YouTube video that gives a 3 minute intro to the HPE Container Platform:
- And here's a 5 minute video that shows a demo of it.
- Toby Weiss is VP of Worldwide Hybrid IT Practice Area. He wrote a blog post looking at the news from the HPE Pointnext (services) perspective, 3 powerful ways to get the most out of containers. Interesting personal footnote that Toby and I graduated from college together back in 1983. Between the two of us, we have over 60 years of experience at HP/HPE!
