Opus Interactive re-imagines their future with data fabric

We love it when customers are able to tell their story of how HPE helps them run their business. theCUBE by SiliconAngle is a perfect platform for this. Last week Milan Shetti, CTO for HPE Storage and Eric Hulbert, CEO of Opus Interactive joined Dave Vellante and John Furrier for a great discussion.

In this segment Eric outlines how his service provider business, Opus Interactive, has run completely on an HPE stack consisting of BladeSystem compute and StoreVirtual software-defined storage technologies since the early 2000’s. When initially deciding on what storage to use they knew they didn’t want to be controller bound by a traditional SAN and instead desired a platform that would scale both capacity and performance. That led them to the LeftHand Networks products which, since the acquisition in 2008, are now called StoreVirtual.

As a bit of background, Opus Interactive is a service provider company with multiple data center locations in the US. They have almost 1000 customers and an infrastructure managed by just 11 engineers. They provide managed cloud services, co-location, hybrid IT offerings and as talked about in the interview, they are working on a new container as a service offering to handle microservices at scale. All done with a virtualized, software-defined data center.
