Put Your Backup Data to Work with Secondary Flash Arrays

NimbleStorage_Secondary Flash Array_blog.jpgLast Monday I shared a post on InfoSight from Nimble Storage colleague David Wang where I mentioned that the HPE and Nimble Storage teams have already been hard at work behind the scenes on some exciting projects.

Now I’m at VeeamOn in New Orleans with Michael Harding from the Nimble Storage Data Protection team who will be introducing us to the very first new product line for Nimble Storage as a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company. I mentioned the Secondary Flash Array in my post yesterday and shared a ChalkTalk but I think Michael has some great insights to share.

If you’re at VeeamOn this week, come out to Michael’s Thursday Breakout Session: How to Put your Backup Data to Work with Flash-enabled Secondary Storage and stop by the combined HPE and Nimble Storage booth for a live demo.

Here's MIchael's post which also appears on nimblestorage.com.

Introducing Nimble Storage Secondary Flash Arrays

SFA-Icon-V.pngI’ve been blogging for the past few months on the joys and benefits of “active backup”—the idea that you can and should expect more from your backup data. I’ve suggested that backing up your data doesn’t have to be an inert, expensive insurance policy. I’ve looked forward to a whole a new approach to secondary storage that could help IT become more agile and business-benefits driven. Well, the big day has arrived.

Today it’s my pleasure to introduce two new Nimble Secondary Flash Arrays from the floor of VeeamOn in New Orleans. Designed to simply and efficiently handle tasks like Veeam backups and disaster recovery, Nimble Storage Secondary Flash Arrays offer the flash-optimized performance to run development/test, QA, and analytics on your secondary data – plus production workloads when needed.

The power of Veeam

Logo_veeamready_Integrated.jpgWhat better place than VeeamOn to debut these new arrays? Nimble Storage Secondary Flash Arrays are an industry-first, effectively using flash storage to create a secondary storage platform that lets you do real work with your secondary data, delivered as part of an integrated data protection solution with Veeam. Ideal for Veeam backup customers using any primary storage, this “meet-in-the-channel” offering delivered by our joint Nimble/HPE and Veeam Software resellers speaks to the strength of our shared solution as well as the strategic alliances that Veeam has forged with Nimble Storage and HPE. All the more exciting is the fact that these Secondary Flash Arrays are the first products to hit the market from Nimble Storage as a Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company. The solution itself marries the benefits of this capacity and performance optimized storage platform with the leading data availability features and benefits of Veeam backup and replication software.  Together, it comprises a unique and valuable, flash-enabled data backup offering.

Don't wait for a disaster—put your backup data to work today!

The Nimble Secondary Flash Array (SFA) represents a new type of data storage optimized for both capacity and performance. It adds high-performance flash storage to a capacity-optimized storage architecture for a unique secondary storage platform — so it’s affordable enough for backup, but fast enough for running workloads such as dev/test, QA, and analytics. Users can backup and recover data from any primary storage array nearly instantaneously and save space with always-on, inline deduplication and compression. This means that you don’t have to wait for a disaster to see your secondary storage investment pay off. Instead, you can put your backup data to work with a secondary storage array that’s designed to run real workloads.

And here's how to put your backup data to work today

Nimble Secondary Flash Arrays are currently available through the regular Nimble channel and available in June through HPE and HPE resellers, although not available in some markets. More product information is available through NimbleStorage.com.
