VMFS or VVol

We are implementing a Nimble HF40 to our ESX Farm with 6.7 U3

Backups we take with veeam 10

Nie we Must decide VMFS or vvols . What do you prefer to use ?

Are we able to take Storage Snapshots with VVOLs ?

Re: VMFS or VVol

Hi Shakra

Thank you for coming on HPE Community Forums.

Vvols still allow storage snapshots. If you have Veeam Enterprise Plus, you need to use VMFS if they want to use the Veeam to Nimble storage integration feature. But Veeam can be used with VMFS or vVols. It just does the backup a bit differently.

Hope this helps.!

Re: VMFS or VVol

Hello, welcome to the forums!

As the previous poster mentioned - the Veeam integration for storage awareness, datalabs & other cool integration has only been engineered by Veeam to use VMFS datastores, rather than vVol storage. vVols are awesome and give you many benefits, but if you value flash-accelerated backups/recovery & things such as SureBackup - VMFS is the correct route, unfortunately.

Please raise your request officially to your Veeam SE & partner for this functionality - you can also add your comments to the Veeam forums...
