Can CS260G use a SFP to RJ45 Converter for CAT6 to 1Gb switch port?

We have a temporary need to use the 10Gb ports on our CS260G as 1Gb ports while we migrate off older storage.  I'd like to know if we can use a converter for CAT6 to a 1Gb Port on our switch?  We would like to know if its supported, and if the SFP+ will autonegotiate to a slower transfer rate.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Chris

Unfortunately this is not possible as the 10GbE SFP+ will not negotiate down to 1GbE

What you may wish to investigate is using the management ports and Vlan tagging them to the appropriate data network (assuming you are running 2.1 where Vlan tags are supported)

In order to do this you would need to present the appropriate network/vlans to the two management ports, allow those interfaces to run management + data and then associate them to the correct Vlan

Cheers
