Can the front handles on the HF20 be removed/repositioned for backwards racking?

We have experienced an issue where the space we have at a colocation does not have the necessary clearance out the back (30") to be able to remove the controllers for hot swap replacement.  We were looking to install it so the back of the HF20 is at the front of the cabinet (there is room enough to replace the hard drives, etc at the back) but you can't slide it on a shelf because of the front handles.  Can they be safely unscrewed and positioned in such a way as to allow the front of the unit to be inserted first and slid to the back, then we can re-attach the handles?

When you say 'handles' do you mean the front 'ears' of the chassis, where the power button and other electronic components reside? If so, then it's not supported to remove these from the system, i'm afraid.

Also, mounting a storage array to the back of the rack might not be the best thing with regards to airflow and cooling - you may cause more harm by having the inlet valves of the array sat in the hottest part of a rack.

Thanks for the information.  I didn't even think about the air flow issues.
