Does anyone know if it's at all possible to use a Nimble volume to mirror an existing Windows drive, specifically on 2008 R2?
Even if I create a Nimble volume with 8192 block size, Windows complains about wrong block size and it still shows up on the 2008R2 server as 4096.
Thanks,
MattF

Re: Drive mirroring with a Nimble volume?
Hi Matt. That sounds like you're not setting the NTFS Allocation Unit Size correctly more than anything else?

SolutionI agree with Nick there.
Online the Nimble disk, format it with 8K allocation, then add it as a mirror to the original windows disk and let it sync up. It sounds like you might be just skipping a step.
I don't think you need Dynamic disks for this unless you are doing something more...

Re: Drive mirroring with a Nimble volume?
We ended up not going this route anyway, so not sure what the problem was, but thank you Nick and Paul for your replies. I appreciate your feedback and guidance.
