iscsiboot from san creates default iscsiboot vmkernel/portgroup/vswitch on esxi

I got my esxi server booting from san and the installation completed. but why does it create a default iscsiboot vmkernel/portgroup/vswitch on my esxi server?

Re: iscsiboot from san creates default iscsiboot vmkernel/portgroup/vswitch on esxi

It creates this vSwitch as it needs to constantly be communicating with the iSCSI attached boot disks. Do not modify this vSwitch.

A quick Google returned this blog post: iSCSI Boot from SAN with Cisco UCS | virtualrush

Re: iscsiboot from san creates default iscsiboot vmkernel/portgroup/vswitch on esxi

I deleted that iscsibootvswitch and rebooted and the server booted fine. Do I really need this vswitch?

Or can I use this vswitch for my iscsi datastore traffic as well?

thanks
