3800 - Redundant Power or not
Hi,
I have a couple of 3800 48G POE Switchtes (J9574A). They all have redundant power supplies.
Sometimes, if one of the power supplies is unpluged, the switch will reboot, causing a temporal outage. But then it will run fine on the remaining power supply.
Why does it reboot? Is there something faulty or do I have to change a setting?
Thank you very much and best regards,
Wolfgang

Re: 3800 - Redundant Power or not
Are you sure each HP 3800 owns a pair of Power Supply Unit?
Can you post the output of
show system power-supply
command?
To me it looks like you have both HP 3800 backplane stacked together...and each one has just one Power Supply unit...glad to be wrong...so please provide us more details.

Re: 3800 - Redundant Power or not
Thank you for your reply.

Yes.
switch# show system power supply
Power Supply status:
Member PS# Model Serial State AC/DC + V Wattage Max
------- ----- --------- ----------- --------------- ----------------- --------- ------
1 1 J9580A TH69DMN04K Powered AC 120V/240V 81 1000
1 2 J9580A TH63DMN0DD Powered AC 120V/240V 89 1000
2 1 J9580A TH69DMN07V Powered AC 120V/240V 83 1000
2 2 J9580A TH63DMN0N5 Powered AC 120V/240V 92 1000
Also to be clear, the switch does not turn off when unpluging one of the cables. I just reboots (powered by the remaining cable/PS)
