5308XL PoE Problems
Hi,
we have an 5308XL Switch in one of our remote locations. Over the weekend i have problems to get PoE to work propably.
so i got the following log entries:
W 05/04/13 09:57:22 chassis: Slot H Ext Power Supply connected but not responding.
W 05/04/13 09:57:20 chassis: Slot G Ext Power Supply: 12V Fault Failures: 1.
W 05/04/13 09:57:20 chassis: Slot G Ext Power Supply: -50V Fault Failures: 1.
Status and Counters - System Power Status for slot G
Maximum Power : 0 W Operational Status : Faulty
Power In Use : 0 W +/- 6 W Usage Threshold (%) : 80
Status and Counters - System Power Status for slot H
Maximum Power : 0 W Operational Status : Faulty
Power In Use : 0 W +/- 6 W Usage Threshold (%) : 80
what does this exactly mean are the power supplies broken?
How can i resolve this problem, might an switch restart help?
regards

Re: 5308XL PoE Problems
It looks like the power supply has failed or is failing.
I suggest removing and reseating the power supplies and cables. If that does not solve the problem, you should contact HP support to have the hardware replaced under the lifetime warranty.
