5406R ZL2 - Dual j9548a in this blade switch - How to setup VRRP?

Hello,

We have 2 j9548a modules in the 5406R chassis and I was wondering how to setup VRRP between these modules.

Any info is appreciated.

Hello, VRRP is not meant to be configured between modules within the same switch, but between switches. First-hop redundancy protocols suchs as VRRP are meant to be configured between 2 or more routers/switches to protect the default gateway functionality.

Hi Lmm_1,

I was thinking more along the lines of if one module fails in that switch, then the other one could take over default gateway functionality. Is that possible to configure? I'm just not aware how to configure these modules separately in order to apply the VRRP commands.

There is no need of VRRP for that, switch will be functional through the remaining module. You might run redundant links to this device (e.g. 1 to each module) to make sure you still have connectivity to the switch in case of a module failure.
