Access 2520G-8-PoE Switch

Hello, I have an ethernet switch that was put in place before my employment.

I don't know if it was ever given an IP or hostname.  I've tried using software to test every IP standard to out network.

I've been trying to accesss the switch via telnet and webrowser.

Perhaps I'm minunderstanding, but the manuals seem to gloss over how to start a CLI (command line interface) session.  If the switch has an IP or hostname, I don't know it.  If it doesn't how do I access the CLI client and a new switch?

The switch is: 2520G-8-PoE

Re: Access 2520G-8-PoE Switch

Hello.  Without an IP you'll need to access the CLI via the console port located on the left hand side of the switch.  Then you'll need to open terminal program like putty and connect via your PC's serial port.  9600/8/None/1.

Or if it has IP already you can find out from LLDP.  If it's connected to another LLDP capable switch you can "show lldp info remote <port>" and check the management address.  Or you can connect directly to the switch ports and capture an LLDP BPDU (from Wireshark), then check the management attribute in the packet.
