Hi all!
I recall I've read something related to show uptime providing misleading values...but I don't recall if it was related to ArubaOS-CX or to ArubaOS-Switch...no matter...today we discovered that, after more than 500 days of system uptime, our two Aruba 5400R zl2 switches (both running KB.16.05.0007, yes...they were running a little bit old software version) show a system uptime of about 2 days only...as they were just rebooted two days ago (which - I'm pretty sure - didn't happen at all).
Is anybody able to help me in finding where this (probable) bug was recognized and which exact Software Branch/Versions solved it?
Thanks in advance.

SolutionHello,
I have seen this before and I think it is normal and not a bug. It looks like the switch is obtaining the uptime from an SNMP OID (I think it is sysUpTime) which has a 32 bit counter. This counter measures the time in hundreds of seconds and it resets itself to 0 after 497 days.
You can find some more detailed explenations on the internet. I couldnt find an HP document about it but I should be the same reason.

Re: Aruba 5400R zl2 (KB.16.05.0007) system uptime reset after 500 days of switch uptime
Hi Emil!
Gosh..that's reasonable...that's the issue...centiseconds counting...if only sysUpTime polling will happen every 1 second (instead of every 1/100 of second)...the upper limit will be 49710 days...if the polling will happen every 1/10 of second the upper limit will be 4971 days...better...so...I've to say goodbye to good old days where an HP ProCurve 9308m Routing Switch easily reached this uptime:
