Different route for some remote site devices
I have main site M & satellite site S, linked via 100Mb leased line
All VLAN routing is done by Comware based core on site M
DHCP is supplied from a server in site M
In satellite site S I have HP Procurve 2930F-48G-PoE+-4SFP+ JL256A with no IP assigned to below VLANs
In site S I have some devices (IPCams) attached to above 2930F in VLAN26 as well as a recording server in VLAN9
At the moment (I think) all the recordings travel the leased line twice, up to default gateway of VLAN26 (on core) and back on VLAN9 to the server
What would be the easiest way to make the devices (IPCams) go to the server direct (as they are oin the same switch)
Some static routes per device, do local routing on 2930F?
I am sure it is simple, I just can't see it
That is info from server (accessing the IPCam), both on same 2930F switch

Re: Different route for some remote site devices
Hello @spgsitsupport ,
It seems HP Procurve 2930F-48G-PoE+-4SFP+ JL256A is acting a Layer 2.
You have mentioned that server on VLAN 9 is directly connected but I believe Layer 3 is on Main site M for VLAN 9.
If above is correct then L3 traffic should travel to main switch M then reverse to server via L2 switch.
If you want direct traffic then I believe you need to make procurve switch as L3 for VLAN 9.
Can you share network topology diagram?
Thanks!

Re: Different route for some remote site devices
Should I not make the 2930F L3 (router VLAN) on both 26 & 9
And make the server & IPCam DG to corresponging IPs

Re: Different route for some remote site devices
Hi @spgsitsupport,
You can make 2930F L3 (router VLAN) on both VLAN.
2930F will act as a distribution switch.
Thanks!

Re: Different route for some remote site devices
And I need to make the default GW for these devices to be the local switch its VLAN IP, right?
