Excessive CRC/Alignment errors
I have a 2530-24G switch that is getting excessive CDC alignment errors and Giant packet errors on my fiber gbic port. I've swapped gbic devices, cables, fiber pairs and everything else I can think of.
Whenever this error happens, all devices connected to this switch lose connectivity, even between other devices that are not routed through that port.
The infuriating thing is that it happens irregularly.
Rx Statistics are:
FCS: 1228427
Alignment: 0
Runts: 0
Giants: 1077
Total: 1229907
This is just for single month and there are only 6 devices currently on this switch.
The gbic on this switch is a 1000SX
Current Mode: 1000FDx
Config Mode: Auto
The switch on the other end is an HP ProCurve 2524
fiber device is 1000SX
Current Mode: 1000FDx
Config Mode: Auto
There are no errors generated on the 2524 except "lost connection to multiple devices on port 25"
I'm not sure what the solution might be, pehaps there is a configuration issue.
I've swapped fibers, replaced the patch cables and replaced both trancievers.
I'm not sure where to go from here.

Re: Excessive CRC/Alignment errors
Enable Jumbo for the VLANs going over that link - maybe that will help with the giant frames.
Also do a "show logging -r" to see if there are any useful messages.
These config options may help too (not sure if they are all in the 2530):
fault-finder broadcast-storm sensitivity high fault-finder bad-driver sensitivity high fault-finder bad-transceiver sensitivity high fault-finder bad-cable sensitivity high fault-finder too-long-cable sensitivity high fault-finder over-bandwidth sensitivity high fault-finder loss-of-link sensitivity high fault-finder duplex-mismatch-hdx sensitivity high fault-finder duplex-mismatch-fdx sensitivity high fault-finder link-flap sensitivity high
