Hi,
I am almost sure we can use 10 Gb/s uplinks ports on the 2530-24G SFP+ switch as access ports.
The schema below shows what we would like to do.
We would like to create a dedicated LAN for backup purposes.
Blades 460cG9 with mezzanine 366m -> Pass Thru 1 Gb/s -> 2530-24G 1 Gb/s access port -> 2530-24G 10 Gb/s Uplink port -> 530 SFP+ PCIe 2P 10 Gb/s interface in a DL380 G9.
Mezzanine 366m is a 4x1 Gb/s ports but we could also choose a 560m 2 P 10 Gb/s one.
The question is : is that configuration supported.
Note that Blades are running ESX, Linux and Windows. DL380 G9 runs Data Prontector on Windows 2012R2.
Thanks in advance
Max

SolutionAbsolutely, just configure it as an untagged member of your desired vlan. By default, it is an untagged member of vlan 1 just like every other port.
The commands:
vlan x - where x is your desired vlan
untagged 26
If you don't already have an SFP+ transceiver, make sure you purchase a supported transceiver as the switch validates it before it is enabled.

Re: HP 2530-24G SFP+ uplinks ports used as access ports ?
Eric
I am looking to buy a 2530 (J9855A) with 2 SFP+ Ports, Can I use a DAC Cable HP X242 10G SFP+ to SFP+ 3m Direct Attach Copper Cable J9283B to connect to our server as they are in the same server room, the server is not an HP but I can either used a Fujitsu SFP+ 10GB Card or the Hewlett Packard NC552SFP 10Gb 2-port Ethernet Server Adapter 614203-B21
Hope you can advice
Kindest Regard
Paul

Re: HP 2530-24G SFP+ uplinks ports used as access ports ?
Paul,
That DAC will definitely work with that switch. I haven't tested that DAC with that HP NIC. In the past, the ProCurve DACs have worked with our servers and they work with the Virtual Connect Modules in the blade chassis. I just don't have that NIC to run a test.
Regards,
Eric
