Re: How to configure Hp procurve 5400zl as a DHCP server?
the HP Procurve 5400zl is a L3-Switch, it can't act as an DHCP-Server. It only can work
as a DHCP-Relay-Agent.

Re: How to configure Hp procurve 5400zl as a DHCP server?
Not sure if you are on old firmware, but the 5400zl can definitely act as a DHCP server:
dhcp-server pool "Guest"
authoritative
default-router "172.16.0.1"
dns-server "8.8.8.8"
lease 00:04:00
network 172.16.0.0 255.255.254.0
range 172.16.0.10 172.16.1.254
exit
Taken directly from a production switch:
Build: 226
Version: KB.16.01.0007

Re: How to configure Hp procurve 5400zl as a DHCP server?
Yep, good update.
That will help users looking for DHCP Server feature information once they hit this thread...unfortunately the Post you replied to is almost 5 years old...and, I think, currently every HPE/Aruba networking administrator, once it has read latest documentation related to his managed Switch, should yet know what feature is/isn't actually available considering the software release his Switch is running on.
This HPE ArubaOS-Switch Software Feature Support Matrix would be of help to understand features support on various AurbaOS-Switch (ProVision) based Switches related to their (minimum) software release.
HPE 5400 zl is able to work as DHCPv4 Server since K.15.16.
