Re: How to do stacking on E2510-48G

Hi,

The only "stack" functionality in the E2510 is single ip management, which sometimes is called stacking.. not really a equivalent of the real stacking functionality of the A-series IRF-stacking or Ciscos stackwise.

More info can be found here: http://www.hp.com/rnd/device_help/help/hpwnd/webhelp/HPJ4121A/configuration_stacking.htm

Re: How to do stacking on E2510-48G

Hello,

Perhaps you are referring to uplinking? In practise you can use any port for that, but the uplink ports may be more convenient due to bandwidth. No extra equipment is needed.

But, as already stated, this doesn't turn the two switches into one, the 2510 doesn't offer full stacking in that sense.

Kind regards,

Thanks for the reply, but even that simple stacking is not happening as the said switch is not having such ports. Could you please send me screen shots showing the process to do the same.

I tried searching on google but was not able to find one.

Re: How to do stacking on E2510-48G

uplinkinking is ok,but i meant stacking itself ie to have single IP. someone suggested we can add on fibre port to have stacking on the said model E2510-48G

Re: How to do stacking on E2510-48G

Hi,

You dont need any extra cables or anything for single ip management, the only requirement I guess is that the management on the switches are in the same broadcast domain.

Attached is the Advanced Traffic Management Guide for the 2510, look at chapter 7.

Re: How to do stacking on E2510-48G

FYI

Just an FYI for anyone running E2510-xxG switches...

There's a verified stability issue with E2510G-24 and E2510G-48 and software Y.11.16

(Last sentence of Issue #1 resolution)

http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02541046

We've had the same problem, as soon as you'd access the http interface, the switch would fault and reboot.  I was able to obtain Y.11.31 and Y.11.23 from HP Support and will be trying it tomorrow morning to see if it resolves the problem.
