Hp2540, Spanning tree and Siemens desigo DXR2

Good Evening, I'm installing 16 switches Aruba 2540 where i've to connect a DXR2 Siemens Device on ring connection. ( I use 2 ports of hpe switches ).

I enable globaly the MSTP but sometimes The device Siemens DXR2 go UP and DOWN.

I see on the port lots of DROP TX

Anyone has any Idea how t solve the issue ?

Thanks in advance

Hi @Pino2, can you elaborate a little bit more about the network topology?

From your initial description it seems you have an ethernet network ring made of sixteen Aruba 2540 switches and just one Siemens Desigo DXR2...is this correct?

I should have expected a Ring as shown here:Screenshot_2017-12-31_19-38-07.png

with more DXR2 units (reference here) and just a few Switches with RSTP enabled.

16 Switches in a ring could cause (or suffer of) issues regarding the (R)STP bridge diameter...so are you sure about implementing MSTP (have you many VLANs)? shouldn't it be really RSTP Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol instead?

Good Afternoon and Happy New Year

Thanks for your Reply. In attached part of Network.

I've a Core switch HP5406 connected to HP 2540 with only one link for each switch.

On all switch hp2540 2 porta are dedicated to connect A ring of Siemens DXR2.

I enabled MSTP, not RSTP

Happy 2018 to you too Giuseppe!

I've a Core switch HP5406 connected to HP 2540 with only one link for each switch.

This means no redundancy between the core (core of a star of rings topology) and each edge switch...

On all switch hp2540 2 porta are dedicated to connect A ring of Siemens DXR2.

I enabled MSTP, not RSTP

OK, so each DXR2 units' ring is at edge switch level (Aruba 2540).

I suppose you configured (M)STP (globally) instead of (R)STP because you have many VLANs to deal with (on the same physical loop) for which you necessarily are applying Spanning Tree to differentiate logical loop-free paths, is that correct?

Can you provide sanitized relevant Switch config (or MSTP status)?

So is a specific DXR2 that has one of its two ports flapping on/off?

Regards, Davide.

Re: Hp2540, Spanning tree and Siemens desigo DXR2

Good Morning, in attach 2 files

Core Session is the running configuration of Core Switch and

Palazzina B Second piano 48 porte is the configuration of one Edge switch ( it's the same configuration on all switches ).

I need spanning tree on ly for vlan 241 and 242, for example on Edge Switch I have ports 35/36 and 37/38 which are the ports where I connect two different rings of DXR2.

I don't see always the port goes Up/DOWN, but I see lot of DROP-TX packet.

The files are not JPG, is necessary to change the extension in txt.

Thanks

Giuseppe
