IP Stacking - Procurve 3800/6200

Hi all,

Could someone tell me if it is possible to stack either a 3800 or a 6200 (or both) when the switches are in different physical locations (i.e. over IP)?

I need 2 of these switches to act as 1 logical unit but in different physical locations.

Thanks,

NJ

No, they both use special stack cables. The A-series IRF can be stacked in different physical locations over directly connected 10G, but not over a routed/IP link.

Max distance of the dedicated 3800 stacking cables is 3m.

The 6200yl switches don't stack at all (just the IP address sharing for management).

You could do VRRP + MSTP if you want a redundant gateway...
