J9727A (2920) Firmware upgrade to WB.16.10.0010 lead to inaccessible devices

Hi everyone,

I have recently upgrade two dozens of switchs from firmware WB_16_04_0016 to WB_16_10_0010, but since I can no more login as admin on them. However password had not been changed.

I have upgraded all the switch with a

copy tftp flash 192.168.2.5 WB_16_10_0010.swi primary

were 192.168.2.5 is my tftp server. this went fine, problems occur after reboot and then no more login is possible.

There seems to be the same problem with a few  J9562A Switch 2915-8G-PoE firmware upgrade from  A_15_16_0021  To  A_15_16_0022

however I can log as operator with no pass, but sadly no privileged commands are possible.

Hi @Dominix_

The username admin is created as local user or the switch contact TACACS server on this ? Have to tried to connect switch via console and check the user details ( it you created as local user)  Also check log message when you ssh/telnet to the switch

Can't you use the Manager local user anymore?

Hi jmpk, thanks for your attention,

admin user is a local user that has all priviledges.

when accessing all switchs that have been upgraded (19) logs saids  unable to authenticate.

hi Parnassus,

Thanks for your time helping me.

I cannot access switchs as manager. I just can access as unpriviledged user (only show ... commands)

no way to configure users or change passwords.

this upgrade has been a bit rude to me

cheers from Tahiti.

Re: J9727A (2920) Firmware upgrade to WB.16.10.0010 lead to inaccessible devices

the log to HPE has been made. But the support gived me direction to clear password with physical "clear" button on each (all) switch on this site. it is the only solution they proposed to me.

I guess I would not have pushed such a firmware on prod  with these drawback of having all your switches suddenly uncontrollable.
