Need help with PoE on a 5406zl
For some reason, I'm struggling with PoE power allocation on a couple of my 5406zls.
I can go weeks without issues and then a few cameras will reboot due to not enough power, so the last ports which are lowest priority get shut off for a few seconds.
I am using the first 4 blades (A-D) to power a bunch of PoE IP cameras that utilize around 2-4w. I have 2x 120v PSUs installed. The last two blades are used for DVRs., with PoE disabled on all the 48 ports (E-F).
A "show power-over-ethernet" shows me I have 546W total and 305W remaining. I have turned off redundancy. I just need to power these 90 cameras and not worry about them starving for power.
Right now I have each port using allocation by value. I set each value to 7w. So far I haven't seen anything drop but I'm not holding my breath.
What's the best way to setup my ProCurve 5406zl with my 2x273w PSUs so I don't have to worry about my cameras going offline?
Thanx.

Re: Need help with PoE on a 5406zl
You need more or better power supplies.
The one you have only has enough power to fully power up 3 modules.

Re: Need help with PoE on a 5406zl
What sw version is running in 5406zl? Also do you seeing POE ports flapping? Please paste the output of "Show version" & " show log -r Denied" ?
