You should have a clear idea of what IP Addresses are (DHCP/manually) assigned to all involved devices...what IP Address your printer and PC have? are those IP Addresses leased by a DHCP Service on your Network (if so...which device is acting as DHCP Server for all your wired/wireless connected devices?) or are them set manually?

You should have a basic knowledge how a Layer 2 IPv4 Network works and how it is generally managed.
