Hi everyone,
We use two A5800-24G (JC100A). Each of them has an additional 4-port 10-GbE SFP+ Module. They are monitored via SNMP.
Occasionally we get a message, that a device is down. And immedeately after that we message is up again. This occurs up to three times a day.
Usually we can access the web console after that. But one the device web interface was down, We also could not access the via the console cable and we needed to restart device (power plug off/on), although the device did it's job as usual (network worked as it should).
When looking at the eventlog of the switch I do not find any entries corresponding to the time of error or recovery.
But I found several entries like this:
Error LINK_UPDOWN Ten-GigabitEthernet1/0/26 link status is UP.
Even though the link status wasn't DOWN before.
"Warning FIBER_SFPMODULE_NOWINVALID -Slot=1; Ten-GigabitEthernet1/1/2: This is not a supported transceiver for this platform. HP does not guarantee the normal operation or maintenance of unsupported transceivers. Please review the platform datasheet on the HP web site or contact your HP sales rep for a list of supported transceivers."
But we do use HP-SFP-Modules!
Any idea what could cause this?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards, Hannes

Re: Problems with A5800-24G with 10G-Module
I also found log entries that the link status for ports is down and up again a minute later for ports where no device is pluged in.
"Error LINK_UPDOWN Ten-GigabitEthernet2/1/4 link status is DOWN."
and a minute later:
"Error LINK_UPDOWN Ten-GigabitEthernet2/1/4 link status is UP."
Any idea?

Re: Problems with A5800-24G with 10G-Module
please run the following command on the switch
display version
display transceiver interface
You will get an output with the firmware version of the switchen and the next command will output the type of transceiver you used in the switch

Re: Problems with A5800-24G with 10G-Module
Is spanning-tree enabled on the network ?
if you check the spanning-tree, how many topology changes you see and when is the last topology change ?

Re: Problems with A5800-24G with 10G-Module
Now it's my third attemped to post a further reply here. I hope it will work now.
Thank you, hansvb, for your help. I made a mistake in my earlier post. 2/1/3 and 2/1/4 are attached to devices. The two switches are connected to each other using these ports. STP is enabled.
Below you can see the results of display version and display tranceiver interface
regards, Hannes

SolutionOk, here is a new thing I found in the logfiles.
I saw several entries from the source DEVM (devicemanager?)
Sep 17 10:41:25:682 2014 DEVM Notification FAN_RECOVERED -Slot=1; Fan 1 recovered.
Sep 17 10:41:25:603 2014 DEVM Notification BOARD_STATE_NORMAL Board state changes to NORMAL on Chassis 0 Slot 1, type is MAIN_BOARD_TYPE_32C.
Sep 17 10:40:25:706 2014 DEVM Critical BOARD_STATE_FAULT Board state changes to FAULT on Chassis 0 Slot 1, type is unknown.
Sep 17 10:39:12:308 2014 DEVM Error BOARD_REMOVED Board is removed from Chassis 0 Slot 1, type is MAIN_BOARD_TYPE_32C.
I expect that the module in Chassis 0, Slot 1 is defective and should be replaced. Am I right?
