Procurve 2910al - Setup VLAN passing thru 2-switches
Hello,
I'm trying to connect single device to a speciffic switch port on both sides of a CAT-5 run. Devices are in seperate bldgs, same subnet. Each bldg has 2910al switches connected via a single fiber run. I need to isolate traffic so nothing else in switches can see traffic.
Device-1 IP: 10.50.1.220 & 2910 switch IP 10.50.1.20
Device-2 IP: 10.50.1.120 & 2910 switch IP 10.50.1.22
I know I need to setup a VLAN and I'll call it "MY-VLAN"
Do I creave the same VLAN name & ID on each switch or will the second switch see the VLAN created on the first switch? I dont see how to do this in the GUI so I assume it's done at the command line?
I'll assume I need to configure the port on each switch as "untagged"
Do I need to configure the fiber ports on the switches as well?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Procurve 2910al - Setup VLAN passing thru 2-switches
Yes you will have to carve out a vlan on both the switches if you dont wish to use the default vlan and make sure the ports connecting to the devices as well as the interconnect between the switches are part of that vlan.
