Procurve 3800 stack not responding to pings but passing traffic
Hi,
I have 2 HP 3800 switches that sit between our datacenter firewalls and ISP CPE routers. It has been running fine as and allowed for replies to pings and telnet access. This morning, I got an alert that the stack was 'down' because it was not replying to pings. It was clearly passing traffic because there were no other alerts or user complaints about internet etc.
I consoled into the switch and found no smoking gun that explained why this happened. Has anyone seen this issue? Could a reboot resolve it? Deleting and recreating the SVI? Vlan?
Thanks!
Jay

Hello. What version of code is running? What features are running? Can you also include the output of "show system"?
Thanks.

Would a show tech be helpful or overkill?

Re: Procurve 3800 stack not responding to pings but passing traffic
Hi!
Any additional information (especially Log related) would be of help in trying to diagnose what happened.
Trim the Serial Numbers or other sensible information/label and eventually post (so, no, show tech will not be too overkill...also a show running-config could be necessary), this would help other users to help you.
OTOH consider that the KA.15.09.0012 version is *really* old (January 2013?)...staying just within KA.15.09 branch, the latest version released was the KA.15.09.0020, built during September 2013 (released on February 2014): it was the very final for the KA.15.09 branch.
FYI after the KA.15.09 branch were released those branches:
KA.16.02
KA.16.01
KA.15.18
KA.15.17
KA.15.16
KA.15.15
KA.15.14
KA.15.13
KA.15.12
KA.15.10

Re: Procurve 3800 stack not responding to pings but passing traffic
Thanks for the info and the help. Been traveling so I couldn't respond sooner.
Clearly I need to ddress and upgrade the firmware. I wanted to attach the sh tech file but apparently I can only upload jpg/gif/png files?? I tried to copy/paste the sh tech but bowser crashed.

Try to paste the copied text into a Code paragraph (use the icon </> between Video and ABC icons to create it).
