Procurve 5406zl config to 5412zl
Hello. I have a 5406zl currently in place but am out of module slots. I need to move all of my modules and current config over to a new 5412zl chassis. What is the easiest way to move the config? Should i just reconfigure the 5412 from scratch and risk missing something? Do a show run config on it and copy/paste the config from the 5406 to the 5412? Im looking for a best practice to follow. Thank you ahead of time.

Re: Procurve 5406zl config to 5412zl
If you could afford enough downtime, you can configure from scratch
However, copy paste would work better
But ensure old modules are installed in the new chassis in the same order they were. So that port numbers will not conflict and you wont receive any errors while copying
You could proceed configuring the new modules as you wish
Uploading the backup from old switch by modifying product numbers would work, but you may experience few difficulties, not that easy to proceed too.
So just proceed with copy paste, step by step, it works fine.
below FAQs are very helpful for you as you are going to use old modules.

Re: Procurve 5406zl config to 5412zl
Thank you for the reply. So then just copy the output of my sh run command from the 5406 and paste it into the 5412?

Just do it a bit at a time and watch for errors as you paste each chunk.
