Questions for ProCurve 2848

Dear all,

I have an old one HP ProCurve switch 2848. Could someone answer this questions:

- is it possible to set a telnet enable password?

- does the switch support ssh access?

- how can I disable a port for spanning-tree?

- is it possible to set a telnet enable password?

Yes, it is. To set login password enter this command:

Switch(config)#password operator

To set enable password:

Switch(config)#password manager

In both cases you will be asked to define passwords.

- does the switch support ssh access?

Yes, it does. You have to generate key pair, enable ssh, and configure switch to use ssh authentication. You can find all steps in Access security guide for switch:

- how can I disable a port for spanning-tree?

Most newer E-series (ex-ProCurve) switches can do that by "bpdu-filtering" command entered at interface context but not sure about this older 2800 series.
