SNMP error showhing Free/Allocated Memory in 2520G Switches
Hello everybody.
We have several HP switches (2520G & 2610) monitorized with nagios and PCM. I relized some days ago that the amount of free memory of the 2520G switches are not being displayed correctly, neither via Nagios or PCM or even via web browser (I upload an attachement).
I've navigated through MIBs tree of some devices (2520G) and values are non-consistent. By example:
NETSWITCH-MIB::hpLocalMemTotalBytes.1 = INTEGER: 33554432
NETSWITCH-MIB::hpLocalMemFreeBytes.1 = INTEGER: 1608258250
NETSWITCH-MIB::hpLocalMemAllocBytes.1 = INTEGER: -1574703818
Is it a bug ?
PS: Switches HP 2520G are updated to last software version (J.14.05 - J.14.54)
It doesnt happen to hp 2610 switches.
Thank you in advance!

Re: SNMP error showhing Free/Allocated Memory in 2520G Switches
Well I checked that this error only happens when switch2520G is STACKED (in my case as Commander, with others hp 2610 as members). However, if I unstack it, memory is shown correctly :-|
And btw, 2610 switches members of the stack, show memory in a good way.

Re: SNMP error showhing Free/Allocated Memory in 2520G Switches
Probably not related to what you are seeing, we have a couple 2520G-24's updated to newest firmware that throw a memory error below whenever we try to view/edit vlan config in telnet session - crashes the switch and it reboots
I 01/01/90 00:00:36 00063 system: System went down: 03/21/12 10:28:15
I 01/01/90 00:00:36 00064 system: Access Violation - Restricted Memory
Did not have this problem before upgrade to newest firmware

Attached is screenshot with telnet session, appears to be similar memory error size issue between Total and Free

Re: SNMP error showhing Free/Allocated Memory in 2520G Switches
Yes, it seems same problem. Are your switches stacked or not ?
Maybe you could do a test, if they are stacked, you could unstack them, reboot them and check if memory is shown right or wrong. In my case, they show it rightly when they are isolated and are part of no stack.
Thank you for your reply.
PS: this is Status and counters - General System Information of one of the switches. (deleting MAC and serial number)

Re: SNMP error showhing Free/Allocated Memory in 2520G Switches
Hi,
Checked a couple other 2520G-24 switches, all have similar bogus free memory displayed, none are in a stack configuration. - all are updated to J.14.54 rev of firmware

Re: SNMP error showhing Free/Allocated Memory in 2520G Switches
Is there any official site to send firmware bugs for being fixed in next firmware releases ?
