Should I disable non POE ports ?
Hi,
I have mutiple switches - 5406 and 5412 that have Aruba AP's connected over POE. Does it make sense to disable POE on switch ports that don't have an AP on it? What is the best practice?
Thanks,
P

Re: Should I disable non POE ports ?
Hi
I think it doesnt matter, the switch will only use power on that port when it is up.
Kind regards

Re: Should I disable non POE ports ?
Interesting question.
Probably in an environment where you plan and manage the physical configuration of all your network devices (APs included) and you have time to refine your Switch configuration it would be safe to enable PoE only on ports where that supply is really needed by the connected/expected PD.
It's just a sort of safety...but - maybe - I'm a paranoid with a lot of spare time. ;-)
