System reboot due to Reset Switch
We had a 5406zl running K.14.60 start
repeatedly rebooting with:
"System reboot due to Reset Switch"
(all by itself). We replaced the chassis,
the module, and one (of two) power supplies,
and it kept doing it. We reverted to
K.13.71, and it is OK now. Never tried
swapping the remaining power supply.
We don't have a case open yet, just wondering
if anyone has seen this.
Then later in the day, we manually rebooted
a different 5406zl, and it started in the
loop of rebooting over and over again
with the same message.
Both switches had been up for months. No
recent config or h/w changes.

Re: System reboot due to Reset Switch
Hello Bruce,
You may have a config file issue there.
If you connect via the console port you will be able to select 0 (zero) at the boot menu and drop into Boot ROM monitor. From there you can manually delete the config files as follows:
-> cd /cfa0/cfg
-> ls
(this displays a list of the actual config files stored on the CF card)
Delete each of them with
-> rm <filename>
(where <filename> is substituted with each of the file names listed above)
-> boot
(will reload the switch, creating a new default configuration file)
You should be able to make a backup copy from K.13 (if you don't have one already) and load that config onto the switch again after the above procedure.
Note that the default config has all ports in VLAN 1, and no spanning tree enabled, so if your switch is in production you may want to disconnect it for the above process.
Hopefully this will restore operation under K.14. If not, I suggest taking contact with support so we can get a troubleshooting session running.
Best regards,
Michael

Re: System reboot due to Reset Switch
Hi,
Molsen have the best analyze of this behaviour, it seems top be relevant to "You may have a config file issue there."
If you check the Release notes you will see that many bugs and similar behaviour have been corrected.
Leave us informed about the solution.
Bye.
