Untagged Ports in HP Switch 3800

Hi,

I am new to vlan stuff. I do get some basic understanding of tagged/untagged ports. But I am not sure about some corner cases.

(1) If a port is only configured as an access port and untagged on Vlan A, will it drop or accept the ingress packets with tag as A?

(2)  If a port is only configured as an access port and untagged on Vlan A, will it drop or forward the egress packets without any tag?

thanks

Re: Untagged Ports in HP Switch 3800

An access port will:

1. Incoming frames: accept all untagged frames and tag them as VLAN A, drop all tagged frames

2. Outgoing frames: send all frames whose tag matches A and whose dest. MAC address matches the port's MAC address table and remove the tags before sending
