Hi,
during setup of a network monitoring program, I noticed that 2600 series switches have only RMON support. I don't know the difference but unfortunately monitoring program says that it supports only XRMON. Is there any chance to see XRMON in future firmware updates?
I think that 2650 is the only reasonable choice for a 10/100 access switch: cost per port is about 15 Euro while it is more then doubled in other choice (4200, for instance, or for gigabit switches).
I 'd like not renouncing to traffic analysis...

Domenico,
Unfortunately the ASICs that interface with the LAN on the 2600 series are not capable of sampling; thus neither sFlow or XRMON can be used on these devices. The RMON support is limited to just a couple of groups - Alarms and Events I think, and maybe one or two others. So you will be limited to polling interface counters for traffic monitoring in this case.
Regards,
SVB
