disable username
Hi,
i'm setting a new 2620-46 procurve and i have a problem: when i enter into the switch in telnet, the switch ask me username and password. I want insert only the password!!!
How can i disable the username?

Hi
I think you cannot disable the username.
But you can use "operator' as username, when you have configured operator password
and "manager" as username if you have configured manager passwort.
This are the default usernames. If you dont configure any username they are added by the switch.

it's ok, but with another switch i enter into it only by entering password and no username! There isn't any username field.

Reason is that the switch that doesn't require an username runs older software. Behavior has been changed with recent versions, currently you must enter both username and password. If you haven't configured any, default "Manager" and "Operator" are used.
