Hi there.
I would say, get the support of HP or whoever sold you these drives to replace them.

Lubomir,

What utility is producing this error log? It's possible that the drive status is being misreported.

Re: DLT 8000, A5588A (6/60)

The messages you are referring to are in the drive/media log of the library. The library records this event (Hardware fault) when the drive returns a hardware error tape alert to the host (i.e. application).

The error could be due to a defective tape (e.g. the drive could not load or calibrate it).

If you can install HP L&TT, it will collect the device logs, and then we can look at the specific errors which occurred. LTT is available for Windows and HPUX at www.hp.com/support/tapetools

Once you have L&TT, you would view the device support ticket, and then look at the specific events in the drive error log.
The journey IS the reward.

Tape Drive Has Hardware Fault - Call Help-Line (31)???means the happeing Drive TapeAlert#31.

Drive TapeAlert#31 is maybe WRITE FIFO SRAM Failure or Mechanical Positioning Error.
