Performance of NetBackup and 4/40

Is anyone using Veritas NetBackup 3.4 on Win2k with a 4/40 library?

We intermittently get one stream of a backup running really slow. If you kill it and re-submit it will often run at 10x the original speed (3.5MB/s compared to 300KB/s).

Any ideas?

Check that the backup blocksize is correct. Go to www.hp.com, click on support and search for backup blocksize for recommendations and slow backup for further info.

... oh yes, another thing.

The installation instructions say that you should have one SCSI HBA / tape drive, so 4 HBAs for the 4/40 library. Fewer than that will damage the performance.

If you daisy-chain the device, put the drives first on the bus and the library controller last.
